August 1st Update

Robert’s Update

Would you believe it if I told you we are 99 days away from the election and just under one month until the filing period officially opens at which time I can officially submit my paperwork to run for Mayor?

I know it’s crazy, and I can’t be more excited!

Every day something new and encouraging happens in the campaign that invigorates my day.  It is the conversations I am having, the support people are offering, and the strides we are making that provide the fuel for each day of activities.

I’ve seen a lot of that enthusiasm as I knock on doors. The reception I get as I talk with Meridian’s residents has been amazing! People are excited about the direction of the community and are pleased to hear about the continuity my candidacy provides toward our premier vision.

But we need to keep spreading the word!  A great way to do this is by having a presence at National Night Out on August 6.  If your HOA is having an event, I would love for you to show up wearing one of our campaign shirts. This event is also a great opportunity to connect with people and provide some campaign material to them. If you plan to attend your National Night Out activity and want to help in this way, please contact me at robert@simisonformeridian.com.

Also, supporters from around the city are hosting several events in August and September. For each of these, we’d love to have your help! Please check out the Volunteer Opportunities and the Five Easy Ways You Can Help the Campaign sections below for more information as we move forward into September.

Finally, here is an upcoming fundraiser that we would love to get people who are interested in financially supporting the campaign to attend.

Five Easy Ways to Help the Campaign

  • If you haven’t made a donation to the campaign yet, we need your help! We want to get 500 people to donate $19 each (yes, that is $38 a couple and counts for 2, as long as we can tell it is from 2 people). You can make a donation by clicking here or by mailing a check,  payable to Simison for Meridian, to PO Box 971, Meridian, ID 83680.
  • Sign up to receive a yard sign. We will be placing our order soon and want to make sure we order enough. You can email the campaign here with your address, and we will make sure you are added to the list.
  • Write a Letter to the Editor. We are already coordinating letters to the editor so we can get them submitted leading up to the election. Email the campaign here and we will follow-up with a very easy template for you to use.
  • Sign up to vote absentee. Email the campaign here and we will help you get your ballot early.
  • We will have several needs coming up as early as September. We will need teams of people to help put up large signs, deliver yard signs, help call voters, door knock neighborhoods, and so much more. Submit a volunteer form here and show Robert how you are willing to help support his campaign.

Social Media

Social Media continues to play a bigger and bigger role in our campaign. If you haven’t followed the campaign yet, we encourage you to do so by liking simisonformeridian on FacebookInstagram and Youtube, and @electsimison on Twitter. You can also follow Robert on his personal Twitter account. If you are following, thank you.

You can also invite your friends (who live/work/play in Meridian and the Treasure Valley) to like these same pages. Individually invite them so they, too, can learn more about Robert and the campaign. These simple steps are some of the easiest and best ways you can help the campaign today!

Volunteer Opportunities

We need your help! Below are several very specific volunteer opportunities where you can help make a difference in the campaign.

  • Welcome guests to an upcoming event at the check in table. Provide them a name badge, palmcard, and a volunteer form/donation envelope. We have several events to choose from on the following dates: August 3August 14August 22 and August 29.
  • On September 7, join Robert at our Community Block Party campaign booth! Engage with the community by getting kids to participate in a booth activity and provide their parents with information about the campaign. Click here to sign up for one of our several shifts.
  • Sign up to be a Square Mile Captain. Square Mile Captains can be involved in several different ways, including:
    • Serving as a point of contact to your neighbors for the campaign.
    • Helping to getting the word out through coordinating door-knocking or literature drops in your square mile.
    • Being a distribution point for campaign signs and Get Out the Vote materials.
    • Monitoring social media (Nextdoor/Facebook) for campaign related issues.
    • Holding a campaign event.
    • Helping to identify other key influencers in your area.

Ready to roll up your sleeves and pitch in? Please submit a volunteer form here and tell us how you are willing to help. Be a part of Simison for Mayor today!

Recent Activities

Thank you to everyone who made it out to the Koontz Meet & Greet and special thanks to the hosts Brianna and Vincent Koontz. They provided a great venue for Robert and City Council candidate Brad Hoaglun to meet some great new people and talk about issues in south Meridian that those who attended were passionate about.

This month, we also opened up a campaign office in downtown’s Heritage Building, at the corner of Main and Idaho. We are in suite 300 (3rd floor). This will be our base for meetings, distributing campaign signs, door-to-door activities, and more!  While we don’t have any set hours yet, we hope this central location will make it easy for our friends and volunteers to have a base of operations as we move forward through the election.

Finally, check out this video of Mayor Tammy and Troy McClain talking about Robert. It’s a great conversation which we hope you will share with others.

Endorsements

Here are a couple of endorsements we recently released to the community.

“I am supporting Robert Siminson for Mayor in our fall election. He is an honorable man who supports the vision that we need and want for Meridian. This is a first class community and Robert will be a first class Mayor. He is knowledgeable concerning the needs and wants of our precious Meridian. Together with him, we can and will continue to have a great and well run city!” -Eva Bailey (Top)

“My family and I proudly support Robert Simison as the next Mayor of Meridian! Robert’s knowledge, vision, and dedication to the city we call home makes him the best qualified candidate for the job. He has “hands-on experience” and knows what it takes to lead. He will ensure that as Meridian grows, we grow responsibly so that we continue being the premier community to live, work and raise our families. Robert definitely has my vote!” – Morgan Andrus (Bottom)
